SHIFT’s research offering is a critical - and growing - aspect for how we serve our clients. Underpinned by our global research panel (The Rider Research Hub) our research team works with the wider SHIFT team and with our clients to uncover critical insights. From product development to brand positioning, from category deep dives to customer journey mapping, we help to inform critical decision making to ensure our client’s focus on what matters most. Our research capability is also the foundation of our thought leadership programme, tackling both the business and cultural aspects of the cycling landscape..

As the Research Executive you will work with the Research Director and Senior Research Manager to help deliver both client and in-house research, and support the continued growth of this team and its services.

Responsibilities

  • Research set up, fieldwork and management. Help the Research team to build, deploy and manage new research projects. From building questionnaires, to monitoring recruitment and providing ongoing administrative support. You will take ownership on smaller and internal projects, as well as help to keep large and strategically important programmes of work moving.
  • Analysis. Support analysis on a range of information types. You will help to extract key data and insights from a range of sources including: first party quantitative data, secondary research reports and qualitative interview transcripts.
  • Trend watching. You will help SHIFT keep its finger on the cycling pulse. Monitoring trends and emerging behaviours across professional racing, cycling marketing and cycling culture as a whole. You will also help to pull together trends reports.
  • Internal knowledge sharing. Help to keep the wider agency up to date with the latest insights and spot opportunities to help other teams with existing or additional insight.

About you

  • Confident with data. Comfortable with spreadsheets. More advanced statistical analysis experience or qualifications are a plus.
  • Dependable and detail oriented. You pay proper care and attention to your work, ensuring that complex projects are set up correctly to ensure research projects can be delivered successfully.
  • Intuitive and adaptive. Able to work in a fast-paced agency environment and to support multiple projects simultaneously. You have a ‘find a way’ mentality.
  • Team player. Excited at the prospect of collaborating with a diverse set of colleagues and clients, and pitching in to support team members when needed.
  • A passion & curiosity for cycling and/or the outdoors. Whether you’re a roadie, a mountain biker, a trail runner or a hiker, we’re looking for someone who has a passion for cycling or the outdoors, and is curious about the industry and finding out why people behave the way they do.
  • Communication skills. You are able to communicate clearly and effectively. Both in writing and in person.
  • Ability to synthesise information. Capable of taking a large quantity of information from different sources and summarising and highlighting the most important points to audiences

Preferred experience

You may already have experience working in a research agency, or within a broader marketing role with a focus on research. Or you may have relevant qualifications and experience where you have had to use research, analysis and statistical techniques in other ways or for academic studies.
