  • Social Media Director

    We're fortunate enough to be experiencing growth at SHIFT Active Media, so we are looking for a super talented Social Media Director with expert social-first storytelling craft skills, a background in content creation, and community management to join our talented team. Ideally, you'd have a passion for cycling too and be excited to work on our world-class cycling brands.

    You will lead the social content and community management team at SHIFT Active Media, helping some of the biggest, most storied and exciting brands in cycling to develop an always-on publishing mindset, and help them to build and connect with their audiences.

    You will collaborate closely with the PR, Media, Creative and Strategy teams at SHIFT to define social visions for our clients, and then guide the planning and crafting of social content that reaches and connects with riders.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Define social strategies and plans. Collaborating closely with the strategy team, you will help to define social strategies and plans that deliver against client marketing objectives, whilst adding value to riders lives. Providing direction and clarity for the wider client-agency team
    • Deliver social-first and always-on content ideas. You will be client facing, working with the Account Management function, to ensure we’re providing best in class insight and understanding across our clients
    • Brief, commission and guide content development: Be able to work with both internal and external partners - including influencers - to turn ideas into content across a range of formats
    • Community management help the social media managers in delivering excellent ongoing community engagement and support
    • Social thought-leader help to keep the wider agency and our clients up to date on the latest trends and technical changes to the key social media platforms
    • Social reporting. Ensure all social accounts have accurate and insightful reporting activity
    • Manage the social content and community team. Provide support, direction and coaching to the social media team to maximise their productivity, development and job satisfaction
    • Ways of working. Working with the CEO and Heads of department, establish ways of working that maximise collaboration, particularly with PR and Creative on an ongoing basis

    Essential Skills and Competencies

    • Strategic thinker: Able to define social strategies and guide the planning of content plans
    • Confident with data: Confident defining objectives and interpreting social data to guide decision making
    • Creative leadership: You understand how to develop new social-content ideas individually all with wider groups, and how to commission or brief others to deliver new ideas and executions. Whether that’s internal teams, external creative teams or influencers
    • Social channel knowledge: An in depth understanding of how all the major social channels work, and a deep practitioners experience for how to leverage their features and functionality to maximise audience reach, community engagement and growth
    • Media knowledge: You understand the roles that paid media and PR play in maximising brand visibility
    • Manager: You are able to coach and support a small team to maximise their productivity and job satisfaction, whilst improving their skills over time
    • Organised & Accountable: You will be adept at managing multiple simultaneous projects, dealing with a range of stakeholders and working to tight deadlines and / or budgets
    • Cycling knowledge & expertise: You will have a solid understanding of the cycling landscape, of cycling culture across disciplines and an interest in / appreciation of the sport

  • Senior Strategist

    We're fortunate enough to be experiencing growth at SHIFT Active Media, so we are looking for a super talented Senior Strategist with a passion for all things cycling to work across SHIFT Active Media client portfolio developing brand, media and communications strategies. Ideally, you'd have a passion for cycling too and be excited to work on our world-class cycling brands.

    You will help to deliver innovative solutions and campaigns to support a variety of challenges across our varied clients within the cycling industry.

    You will work closely with the Head of Strategy & Research to embed strategic thinking across the agency, and to develop our strategic tools.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Lead the strategy and planning on key accounts across the agency
    • Develop new communications strategies and plans for a wide range of cycling brands. Feeding into creative campaigns, PR and Media plans
    • Build strong relationships with clients and key internal stakeholders
    • Collaborate with our research team and network of cycling experts to uncover and articulate the insights, opportunities and propositions to unlock new solutions and ideas
    • Take an active role in helping to develop new creative, PR, media and social plans. Writing and delivering discipline-specific briefs to get the best from both internal and external teams
    • Help teams from different disciplines collaborate to create combined solutions (e.g. Media and PR, Creative and Media), setting new standards in integrated thinking for the cycling category
    • Establish measures for effectiveness and produce or lead analysis for the campaigns and properties you work on
    • Support the Head of Strategy & Research in evolving and adding to our ‘strategic toolbox’

    Essential Skills and Competencies

    • Marketing and communications knowledge: You have a strong understanding of marketing and communications theory, but you are also well versed in digital channels and emerging marketing technology
    • Brand thinking: You’re confident getting under the skin of a brand and understanding its consumers. You will be able to define and articulate a brand’s positioning and target audience. As well as translating that into compelling new opportunities for the brand
    • Strategic and lateral thinker: You’re capable of thinking beyond the obvious. You can cut through the complexity of a given situation to deliver clear and inspiring communication strategies
    • Creativity and articulation: You have an ability to grasp and articulate consumer insights and develop compelling propositions. You enjoy working with creative teams to develop brilliant work
    • Written and presentation skills: You’re able to produce well-crafted, well laid-out presentations and documents and present these in a compelling way. You can communicate complex things in a simple way
    • Numerical and analytical skills: You’re not fazed by figures or data, are happy working in spreadsheets, and use them to tell insightful, useful stories

    • Broad marketing experience: As a full service agency, we do everything from defining Brand Purposes, to creating Media, Social and PR strategies. Our ideal candidate will have experience in at least one of these other areas in addition to a solid grounding in creative communications

    Required Experience

    • Experience of working in a strategy or planning role within an agency (or relevant client-side marketing team)
    • You will have spent a number of years specifically developing marketing and/or communication strategies and plans
    • You will have experience working with well-known brands, and can demonstrate how your ideas have made a tangible difference to campaign or business performance
    • Experience in using a range of different insights sources and types of data to feed into your strategies and plans (experience running qualitative research beneficial, but not required)

  • PR Executive

    If you’re looking for a new challenge, and want to work on some interesting global sports clients and develop your career in PR within a fast growing agency, then this is for you! We’re looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic PR Executive to join our PR team in Bath, to work across the agency’s roster of cycling and triathlon clients.

    As part of the PR team you will provide assistance on campaign management, product launches and media outreach day-to-day. You’ll be proactively thinking about and creating innovative story angles to engage cycling and sports media as well as national and consumer lifestyle journalists, while communicating with the wider team on media opportunities and developing your own strategic thinking.

    You will report into the PR Manager and will have plenty of support from the wider clients services team and senior management team, as well as having lots of opportunities to develop your own particular skills and interests. We’re always open to new ideas, taking risks and going after rewarding challenges; and we look to nurture this attitude in our junior recruits.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist and support the implementation of PR projects and strategies from initial brief
    • Build and maintain strong global media relationships that help the team deliver coverage for our range of clients
    • Proactively create story angles that can be pitched into media
    • Development of an in-depth knowledge of the client’s business and the sectors in which they operate to ensure PR initiatives are relevant, engaging and competitive
    • Sourcing and monitoring of influencers/ambassadors

    Are you an experienced Account Director with knowledge of and a love for cycling? If so, SHIFT Active Media may have the perfect role for you.

    We are recruiting for an Account Director to join our client services team, to help build and develop our client relationships. The team supports our existing client base, as well as pitching for and winning new business. Great communication, organisation, and project management are key skills required to be a part of the team. Knowledge of the cycling industry and a general understanding of brand and performance marketing are also essential.

    As an Account Director, you will help to grow the business by improving client relationships and incremental business in the cycling industry. The aim is to produce great work for our clients, and to add value to their businesses through marketing and cycling expertise.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Work with management and strategy to create briefs.
    • Work with Project Management to agree the most effective and efficient way to deliver projects.
    • Be a client’s key contact for marketing knowledge, particularly in digital marketing.
    • Understand the Client’s business and category. You will be responsible for understanding the client’s business, their goals, challenges, opportunities, and their business performance.
    • Know the cycling market and products inside out.
    • Build client relationships, as well as creating new client relationships and leads.
    • Use account plans to track future work.
    • Ensure that target revenues on each account are met or exceeded.
    • Improve client satisfaction, helping to expand existing revenue streams.

    Skills and Experience

    • Leadership - you will demonstrate leadership within the client services team.

  • Account Manager

    As Account Manager at SHIFT, you will develop brand and communications strategies, as well as designing innovative solutions and campaigns to support our varied client base. You’ll be responsible for delivering creative ideas to help clients grow their business that are effective and within budget.

    The Role:

    • Support Business Directors and the senior management team in establishing and growing our client relationships.
    • Develop new strategies and plans targeted at cycling consumers.
    • Research and keep up to date with emerging trends and strategies within the cycling market.
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, including being their main point of contact at SHIFT Active Media.

    Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

    • Experience working in marketing and/or account management, ideally within an agency environment.

  • Senior Designer

    As part of our ever expanding agency we are looking for a super talented Senior Designer with a strong craft and digital background and a passion for cycling, to join our creative team here at SHIFT Active Media.

    As Senior Designer, you will be working across our whole client base and alongside the core members of our team ensure that the work we carry out for all of our clients is of the highest creative standard, delivered on time and within budget. You will work collaboratively with our social media, PR, media planning and buying, video and digital teams to produce standout creative solutions and uphold the expectation of creative excellence within the company. Due to the wide ranging work we produce, agency experience is essential.

    The role will be varied, highly creative, challenging and will focus on campaigns across print, digital, social, video, and direct to consumer channels, through to creating engaging content for brand websites, and design for print adverts for major cycling brands and beyond. You’ll be an integral spoke in our creative wheel.

    You will work on projects for some of the most prestigious brands in cycling, as part of the creative team, whilst supporting the Head of Design and working alongside our account management and digital teams and creative suppliers.

    Responsibilities

    As a Senior Designer you will work on a variety of graphic design and creative projects, the work will be varied and challenging and play to your creative strengths. It will include, but is not limited to:

    • Generating conceptual design ideas for campaigns and proposals
    • Designing creative for digital, motion, branding and print, across all areas of the business
    • Leading website strategy and design (UI, UX and GUI)
    • Managing the creation of print and digital advertising from concept through to delivery
    • Motion graphics to help bring to life our commercial video campaigns
    • Print, advertising and marketing communications
    • Design amendments, artwork, layout and image manipulation
    • Contributing to presentations, proposals and motion showreels
    • Source and/or create photography, illustrations, and graphics for individual projects
    • Develop and produce marketing collateral to support the company’s strategy and visual branding
    • Directing and getting the best from internal designers and external creative contributors
    • Championing and challenging our creative process and way of thinking
    • Other reasonable duties, as directed by the senior creative team

    Skills and Experience

    • You will be a creative thinker and a multi-tasker, have strong print, digital skills and expertly know your way aroundAdobe CC, in particular Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Motion design skills, particularly After Effects and HTML5 would be a bonus but not essential.
    • You will have a flexible approach to work, excel under pressure and deliver solutions with exceptional attention to detail, on brand and on time.
    • You will have solid knowledge of digital development – enabling you to design ambitious but achievable websites and a passion for creating visual and graphic solutions for a range of media types. Again, motion graphic skills would be a bonus but not essential.
    • The ability to rapidly absorb and apply new technical information is a distinct advantage but not essential.
    • The successful candidate will have at least 3-5 years agency experience in a Middleweight or Senior role.
    • Of course you’ll be bursting with ideas, positive mindset and have excellent organisational skills being able to schedule and manage your workload to meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.

  • Strategy & Research Intern

    If you’re looking for a new challenge, and want to work on some of the biggest brands in cycling and develop your strategy and research career within a fast growing agency, then this is for you!

    Role Purpose

    As the SHIFT Strategy & Research Intern, you will be responsible for providing support to the Strategy and Research team. You will assist with all business needs related to Research and Strategy for SHIFT’s clients and prospects. You will work with the Head of Strategy & Research to gather, analyse and interpret a variety of information in the form of desk research. You will set up and manage research projects in collaboration with the Research Manager, supporting respondent recruitment, scheduling and payments, and generally assisting with workflow where necessary to keep the team running smoothly and effectively. In return, you’ll gain invaluable experience in the field of agency research and strategy, as well as getting to assist on some interesting and exciting projects.

    The successful applicant will ideally have an interest and passion for cycling, as well as a significant interest or experience in marketing and/or strategy and research. They should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to think quickly and intuitively while working autonomously, due to remote working. The team will, of course, be on hand to support however.

    Key Accountabilities

    Working closely with SHIFT’s Head of Strategy & Research the intern will be required to:

    • Examining clients’ businesses to get to know their brands and understand their objectives.
    • Analyse and interpret a variety of information.
    • Research and gather data to develop well-informed briefs and thus strategic plans for clients.
    • Assist with research project coordination & administrative tasks.
    • Keep well informed of industry developments and competitor activities, as well as keeping up-to-date with cultural/social trends and customers’ views and attitudes.

    Job Requirements

    • Prior experience in a marketing department, agency or research organisation - highly desirable.
    • Academic experience in marketing, research or a related discipline - desirable.
    • Excellent computer knowledge with spreadsheets (proficiency in G-Suite a bonus).
    • Writing and proofing skills.
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and administrative skills.
    • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified time frames.
    • Organised, dependable and detail oriented.
    • Team player with a cooperative spirit.
