Underpinned by our global research panel (The Rider Research Hub) our research team works with the wider SHIFT team and with our clients to uncover critical insights. From product development to brand positioning, from category deep dives to customer journey mapping, we help to inform critical decision making to ensure our client’s focus on what matters most. Our research capability is also the foundation of our thought leadership programme, tackling both the business and cultural aspects of the cycling landscape..

As the Research Manager you will work with the Research Director to deliver both client and in-house research, and contribute to the continued growth of this team and its services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end research process. Own and manage key steps across the lifecycle of a research project, from costing and proposals, research design and implementation, and analysis.
  • Deliver insights. Tell compelling stories with research, data and analysis, articulating key insights, barriers, opportunities and propositions.
  • Commercial awareness. Work with the Research Director to identify research opportunities through a solid understanding of client and industry business contexts.
  • Build strong relationships. Create and maintain client relationships, and be a focal point for the sharing of research and insights within SHIFT.

About you

  • Proficient with data. Comfortable with analysing data via spreadsheets, ideally with experience of more complex data analysis including self-serve tools (e.g SPSS, Q, etc)
  • Intuitive and adaptive. Able to work in a fast-paced agency environment and to support multiple projects simultaneously. You have a ‘find a way’ mentality and a proactive approach.
  • Team player. Excited at the prospect of collaborating with a diverse set of colleagues and clients, and bringing your ideas and inputs to these environments.
  • A passion & curiosity for cycling and/or the outdoors. Whether you’re a roadie, a mountain biker, a trail runner or a hiker, we’re looking for someone who has a passion for cycling or the outdoors, and is curious about the industry and finding out why people behave the way they do.
  • Communication skills. You are able to communicate clearly and effectively. Both in writing and in person.
  • Ability to deliver strategic insights. Capable of taking a large quantity of information from different sources and summarising and highlighting the most important points to audiences
  • Dependable and responsible. You pay proper care and attention to your work, ensuring that complex projects are set up correctly to ensure research can be delivered successfully.

Preferred experience

You will have ideally spent 3-5 years working in either a research agency or client-side research role. Predominantly quantitative background, but experience of qual methods would be beneficial. Confident with data and key market research best practices. A working knowledge of advanced research techniques (e.g MaxDiff, Segmentation etc) would be preferred but not required.
