Social Media Director
We're fortunate enough to be experiencing growth at SHIFT Active Media, so we are looking for a super talented Social Media Director with expert social-first storytelling craft skills, a background in content creation, and community management to join our talented team. Ideally, you'd have a passion for cycling too and be excited to work on our world-class cycling brands.
You will lead the social content and community management team at SHIFT Active Media, helping some of the biggest, most storied and exciting brands in cycling to develop an always-on publishing mindset, and help them to build and connect with their audiences.
You will collaborate closely with the PR, Media, Creative and Strategy teams at SHIFT to define social visions for our clients, and then guide the planning and crafting of social content that reaches and connects with riders.
Key Accountabilities
Define social strategies and plans. Collaborating closely with the strategy team, you will help to define social strategies and plans that deliver against client marketing objectives, whilst adding value to riders lives. Providing direction and clarity for the wider client-agency team
Deliver social-first and always-on content ideas. You will be client facing, working with the Account Management function, to ensure we’re providing best in class insight and understanding across our clients
Brief, commission and guide content development: Be able to work with both internal and external partners - including influencers - to turn ideas into content across a range of formats
Community management help the social media managers in delivering excellent ongoing community engagement and support
Social thought-leader help to keep the wider agency and our clients up to date on the latest trends and technical changes to the key social media platforms
Social reporting. Ensure all social accounts have accurate and insightful reporting activity
Manage the social content and community team. Provide support, direction and coaching to the social media team to maximise their productivity, development and job satisfaction
Ways of working. Working with the CEO and Heads of department, establish ways of working that maximise collaboration, particularly with PR and Creative on an ongoing basis
Essential Skills and Competencies
Strategic thinker: Able to define social strategies and guide the planning of content plans
Confident with data: Confident defining objectives and interpreting social data to guide decision making
Creative leadership: You understand how to develop new social-content ideas individually all with wider groups, and how to commission or brief others to deliver new ideas and executions. Whether that’s internal teams, external creative teams or influencers
Social channel knowledge: An in depth understanding of how all the major social channels work, and a deep practitioners experience for how to leverage their features and functionality to maximise audience reach, community engagement and growth
Media knowledge: You understand the roles that paid media and PR play in maximising brand visibility
Manager: You are able to coach and support a small team to maximise their productivity and job satisfaction, whilst improving their skills over time
Organised & Accountable: You will be adept at managing multiple simultaneous projects, dealing with a range of stakeholders and working to tight deadlines and / or budgets
Cycling knowledge & expertise: You will have a solid understanding of the cycling landscape, of cycling culture across disciplines and an interest in / appreciation of the sport
